Given:

Surya, Sid, Sara, Likhi and Akhil are participating in a debate. One of them is to be selected for representation at zonal level.

To find:

Find the probability of Surya for being selected as a participant at zonal level.

Solution:

From given, we have,

Surya, Sid, Sara, Likhi and Akhil are participating in a debate. One of them is to be selected for representation at the zonal level.

Totally there are 5 participants. (Surya, Sid, Sara, Likhi and Akhil)

Only one of them is to be selected for representation at the zonal level. (1 participant)

There is only one person named Surya.

P (Surya for being selected as a participant at zonal level) = number of people named Surya / Total number of participants

Therefore, P(Surya) = 1/5
