Susan placed 25 cm3 of alkali X of concentration 1.0 mol dm-3 in a polystyrene cup and added acid Y of concentration 1.0 mol dm-3 from the burette.Why did she carry out the reaction in a polystyrene cup ?

The polystyrene cups, being insulators, are used to minimise heat loss from reaction mixture from the side and bottom of the cup.
