The methods used for drying pulses are:

1. Natural drying - The threshed grain is exposed to the air in sun or shade. The duration may vary depending on the moisture content required for safe storage. The grain has to be stirred frequently to achieve uniform drying.

2. Artificial drying - Heated air with the help of dryers or unheated air with the help of dehumidifiers is blown through the mass of grain.

The different ways in which pulses are polished are:

1. Nylon polish

2. Oil or water polish

3. Leather and makhmal polish

Generally polishing is done with a soap stone, oil or water. Polishing gives uniform look and shine to each grain.
