Step-by-step explanation: let the age of father be x yrs.

and let his son age be y yrs

ATQ, 10 yrs ago,

x-10= 12(y-10)

x-10=12y-120

x-12y= -110-------------eq 1

also, x+10= 2(y+10)

x+10= 2y+20

x-2y=10-------------------eq 2

by elimination,

x    -12y= -110

x    -2y=    10

(-)   (+)      (-)

  -10y = -120

y= 12 yrs

therefore father's age = x -2(12)= 10

x= 10+24

x= 34 yrs
