Moisture and temperature are two limiting factors of terrestrial ecosystem. Water is essential for teh roots though medium water.

Temperature : Seeds need some heat for germination, growths and reproduction and also a rang of temperature beyond which it cannot survive.

Other factors such as soil also to some extent control the vegetation growth .
