Let 'x' be the sum of ages of three children,

'y' be the age of the father,

y = 2x --(1)

After 8 years,

y+ 8 = x + 3(8) { Because there are three children }

y+8 = x+ 24

y = x+16

Sub (1) in (2),

2x = x + 16

2x - x = 16

x = 16

So,

y = 2x

y = 2(16)

y = 32
