Explanation:

Quinine is synthesized from the cinchona plant. The malarial parasite are usually present in the ‘red blood cells’ or are present in the liver. There are two phases the erythrocytic phase and the pre erythrocytic phase.  

Quinine has the capacity to kill both the erythrocytic and the non erythrocytic phase. As a result it prevent the relapse of malaria as well since it is caused due to pre erythrocytic phase. Nowadays other forms of quinine like chloroquine and primaquine are used in the ‘treatment of malaria’.
