The altitude of a triangle is two-third the length
of its corresponding base. If the attitude increased
by 4 cm and the base decreased by 2 cm, the area
of the triangle remains the same. Find the base
and the altitude of the triangle.

Step-by-step explanation:

let the base of triangle be x

it's altitude will be 2/3 x

area of triangle = 1/2 × b × h

= 1/2 × x × 2/3 x

if base is decreased by 2 cm = x - 2

altitude is increased by 4 cm = 2/3 x + 4

area = 1/2 × (x-2) × (2/3 x + 4)

area of both is equal
