area of rectangle is equal to length into breadth.

x {  }^{2}  + 7x + 12 = (x + 3) \times b
x {}^{2}  + 7x + 12 = x + 3
x {}^{2}  + 7x - x12 - 3 = b
x {}^{2}  + 6x + 9 = b
by splitting method

x {}^{2}  + 3x + 3x + 9 = b
x(x + 3)3(x + 3) = b
(x + 3)(x + 3)
x =  - 3
hands length is equal to -3
