Given :

• Area of trapezium = 34 cm²

• Length of one parallel side = 10 cm

• Height = 4 cm

To Find :

• Length of the other parallel side

Solution :

Let the parallel sides of trapezium be a and b. We know the value of a is 10 cm, we've to find the value of b

We know that,

\bigstar\: \: \sf \: Area_{trapezium} =  \dfrac{1}{2} (a + b) \times h

 \longrightarrow \sf \:  34 = \dfrac{1}{2} (10 + b) \times 4

 \longrightarrow \sf \:  34 =(10 + b)2

 \longrightarrow \sf \:  34 = 20 + 2b

 \longrightarrow \sf \:  34 - 20 = 2b

 \longrightarrow \sf \:  2b = 14

 \longrightarrow \sf \:  b =  \dfrac{14}{2 }

 \longrightarrow \sf \:  b =  7 \: cm

\therefore Length of other parallel side is 7 cm.

Question:-

The area of a trapezium is 34 cm² and the length of one of the parallel side is 10 cm and its height is 4 cm. Find the length of the other parallel side.

AnSwEr:-

Given :

• Area of trapezium = 34 cm²

• Length of one parallel side = 10 cm

• Height = 4 cm

Find :

• Length of the other parallel side:-

Method:-

Let the parallel sides of trapezium be x and y. The value of x is 10 cm, value of y = ?

Area of Trapezium ={\bf{\dfrac{1}{2} (x + y) \times h}}

=} 34 ={\dfrac{1}{2} (10 + y) \times 4}

=} 34 =(10 + y) × 2

=} 34 = 20 + 2y

=} 34 - 20 = 2y

=} 2y = 14

=} y =\dfrac{14}{2 }

=} y =\cancel{\dfrac{14}{2}}

=} \large{y=}\red{7cm}

➣Length of other parallel side is:
