Area of rectangle = L X B = 24....(1)
Perimeter = 2[L + B] = 22....(2)
From (1) we have L = 24/B
Putting this in (2) we get
2[24/B + B] = 22
48/B + 2B = 22
48 + 2B^2 = 22B (Multiplied both sides by B)
B^2 - 11B + 24 = 0 (divided both sides by 2)
B^2 - 8B - 3B + 24 = 0
B(B - 8) - 3(B - 8) = 0
(B-8)(B-3) = 0
B = 8 or 3
As we know breadth < length so we take B = 3
So L = 24/3 = 8
Therefore sides of rectangle are 8 m and 3 m.
