The area of the four walls in a room is 120 m². The length istwice the breadth. If the height of the roomis 4 m, find the area of the floor.

\small \mathfrak \blue {answer \: }

l= 2b

h = 4m

Area fof four walls A = 2(1+b)h

=> 120 = 2 x 4(2b+b)

=> b= 5m

Area of floor= lb = 2b.b = 2b² = 2 x 5²

=> 50m²

The area of the four walls in a room is 120 m². The length is

twice the breadth. If the height of the room

is 4 m, find the area of the floor.

  • We can by now say that the lateral surface area of the room is given.
  • let breadth be x metres
  • length = 2x metres
  • height = 4m (given)
  • LSA = 120m² (given)
  • Find: area of floor = length × breadth
  • we know that, LSA = 2h(l+b) [where l represents length b represents breadth and h represents height]
  • 2(4){x+2x} = 120
  • 8(3x) = 120
  • 24x = 120
  • x =  \frac{120}{24}
  • hence x = 5
  • now we know the length and breadth of the room {x = 5 - breadth and 2x = 10 - length}
  • Area of the floor = 10 × 5 = 50m²

Hope it helps!!

have a great day!!
