here ac is the diagonal of parallelogram ABCD
a diagonal divides a parallelogram into 2 equal halves, it's like cutting a pizza along it's diagonal. The two triangles thus are called congurent. two congurent triangles have same area ( as the 2 pizza parts are equal ).
area of one triangle is 16 sq cm
then area of other triangle (other half) is also 16 sq cm.
add them both to get the total area, i.e 32 sq cm
