12

Area of trapezium = 1/2 ( a + b) x h where a and b are the 2 parallel sides and h, the height

Area of the trapezium = 1/2 ( a + b ) h

Sub area = 12 and height = 3:

12 = 1./2 ( a + b) x 3

Combine like terms:

12 = 3/2 (a + b)

Divide both sides by 3/2:

8 = a + b

Answer: The sum of the two parallel sides is 8 m

here is your answer OK dude

Given area of trapezium = 12 sq m Let the one of the parallel sides of the trapezium = x Therefore the other parallel side of the trapezium = (x + 2) Area of trapezium = (1/2)h(a + b) 12 = (1/2) x 3 x (x + x+ 2) 24 = 3(2x + 2) 24 = 6(x + 1) x + 1 = 4 x = 3 Hence one of the parallel side of the trapezium = 3 m Other parallel side = 5 m
