Question

The areas of three of the faces of a cuboid are 24 cm2, 18 cm2 and 12 cm2. What is the volume of the cuboid?

ANSWER

volume of the cuboid  =48 cm3

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the length, width and height of the cuboid be l,b and h respectively.

Hence volume = lbh

Now according to the question l×b =24 cm2

Hence l=24b..........(1)

Also b×h =12 cm2

∴h=12b.........(2)

Also l×h =8 cm2⇒24b×12b=8

(putting the values of l and h from (1) and(2))

⇒b2=36 cm⇒b=6 cm∴l=246=4 cm

and h=126=2 cm

Hence volume of the cuboid = l×b×h =4 cm×6 cm×2 cm =48 cm3
