Let altitude be x
and let base be 3x
then ar of the triangle is
1/2 * x * 3x = 96 cm
by solving we get x = 8
therefore, altitude = 8 cm
and base = 3 * 8 = 24 cm

The correct Question be like

The base and height of at triangle are in the ratio 3:4 and its area is 96 sq.m . find its base and height

Answer: base = 3×4 = 12cm and height = 4×4 = 16 cm

Solution

Let the base be 3x

Let the height be 4x

Area of triangle, A = ½ × base × altitude = 96 m²

96 = ½ × base × ¼ base

96 = 6x²

x² = 16 or x = 4

base = 3×4 = 12cm and

height = 4×4 = 16 cm

Hope it helps uh!
