The Casket Test is a part of the Merchant of Venice, written by William Shakespeare.
It was devised by Portia's father before his death. Anyone who won this would win Portia's hand in marriage. The Casket test consisted of three caskets - gold, silver and lead. Only one of them had Portia's picture in it and it was the right casket. Price of Morocco, Prince of Arragon and Bassanio attempted it. At last, Bassanio emerged victorious and marries Portia.
