India enjoys the most strategic central location at the head of Indian Ocean. This vantage location in the Indian ocean allows a sea route both eastward to Japan,China and the island countries of Southampton China Sea;and westwards to the east African and West Asian countries, as well as Europe. Thus India is in commanding position regarding the Indian ocean route, and has developed into major centre of ports of call for all ocean going vessels. This has helped India to develop strong relations of trade and commerce with the rest of the world. In olden days,it was through these sea routes that Indian trade flourished.
