1. the main reason is that when we heat water, the molecules of water get charged and its kinetic energy increases causing vigorous movement of the water molecule.
2. so these molecules of water get easily dissolved the dust particals present on the clothes washing them away.
3. hence, cold water as compared to hot water has lower kinetic energy and thus cannot remove dust easily.
