It is given that ,

1/p , ( 1 - p )/p , ( 1 - 2p )/p .... is an A.P

Common difference = a2 - a1

d = [ ( 1 - p )/p ] - 1/p

= ( 1 - p - 1 )/p

= -p/p

= -1

Therefore ,

Common difference = d = -1
