The compressibility factor for a real gas at high pressure is :

1. For real gases, van der waals equation is

(P + a/V^2)(V - b) = RT

2. At high pressure, P >>> a/V^2

3. Thus we can neglect a/V^2 term, which give us

P( V - b ) = RT

PV = RT + Pb

Z = PV/RT

= RT + Pb / RT

= 1 + Pb/RT
