Given height =5 cm
Curved surface area = 440 square cm
So, curved surface area of cylinder =22/7*r*r*h
or 440= 22/7*r^2*5
or r^2= (440*7)/110
or r^2= 28
or r=2 sq. root(7) cm

Hence, the answer is2sq. root (7) cm.
Hope it helps you!!!

mrcghy: if r^2 is 28 then how r can be 7???

Hey Friend,

Height (h) = 5 cm
Let the radius be 'r' cm.

Curved Surface Area (CSA) = 440 cm^2
2 x  \pi x r = 440
r = 440 / 2 x 7 / 22
r = 70 cm

Therefore, the radius of base is 70 cm.

Hope it helps!
