The sum is 12 and difference is 4y

The new number obtained by interchanging the digit = yx=10y+x

Now, given the difference between the above two is 36

⇒ (10x+y)-(10y+x)=36

⇒ 10x-x-10y+y=36

⇒ 9x-9y=36

⇒ x-y=4

Also, given ratio is 1:2

\frac{y}{x} =\frac{1}{2}

⇒ x=2y

x-y=4 ⇒ 2y-y=4 ⇒ y=4

Hence, x=2(4)=8

Hence, the sum is x+y=8+4=12

The difference is x-y=8-4=4
