Answer:

a+b=5

a2-b2=45

a2-b2=(a+b)(a-b)=5(a-b)=45

a+b=5

a -b=9

add them

2a=14 so a=7

subtract them

2b=-4

b=-2

Answer:

The numbers are 2 and 7

Step-by-step explanation:

let the two unknown numbers be X and Y

x-y=5 which becomes X=y+5

and it's given x²-y²=45

substitung value of X in equation 2

(y+5)²-y²=45

y²+25+10y-y²=45

10y+25=45

10y=20

y=2

X=y+5=7
