The displacement of a particle moving on a straight line is given by x=16t-2t^2. Distance travelled by the particle during the first 2 sec. is S1 and during first 6sec. is S2. Find 3S2/S1.

Displacement in first 2 s is given by -

S1 = 16t - 2t²

S1 = 16(2) - 2(2)²

S1 = 32 - 8

S1 = 24 m

Displacement in first 6 s is given by -

S2 = 16t - 2t²

S2 = 16(6) - 2(6)²

S2 = 96 - 72

S2 = 24 m

Therefore,

3S2/S1 = 3 × 24 / 24

3S2/S1 = 3
