Given :- The face of a lamp shade is shaped like a trapezoid. the dimensions of the face are shown in the diagram. 6 in y in x in y in 10 in . which equation can be used to find A. the area of the face of the lamp shade in square inches

A. = 1/2 (6+10)y

B. = 1/2 (6+10)x

C. = 1/2 (6)+(10)x

D. = 1/2 (6)+(10)y

Answer :-

we know that,

  • Area of trapezium = (1/2) * (sum of parallel sides) * height .

from image we can see that,

  • Parallel sides of lamp shade is shaped like a trapezoid = 6 inch and 10 inch .
  • Height of trapezoid = x inch .

so,

→ Area of the face of the lamp shade = (1/2) * (6 + 10) * x = (1/2)(6 + 10)x inches² (B) (Ans.)
