so,

x = 5y - 3 - - - - equation (i)

also,

x + 4 = 3 (y + 4) + 3

or, x + 4 = 3y + 12 + 3

or, x + 4 = 3y + 15

or, x = 3y + 15 - 4

or, x = 3y + 11 - - - - equation (ii)

Now,

Substituting the value of x in equation (ii), we get,

5y - 3 = 3y + 11

or, 5y - 3y = 11 + 3

or, 2y = 14

or, y = 7

Again, Substituting the value of y in equation (i) , we get,

x = 5 * 7 - 3

or x = 35 - 3

or, x = 32

Hence,

The present age of father is 32 years and son is 7 years.
