Given:
The formula of element X is XO.
As the valency of O is 2.
By criss cross method valence of X will be 2.
The formula of element Y is Y2O3
As the Valency of element Y is 3 by criss cross method.
So element x Valency is 2.
Valency of element Y is 3.
Hence element X can be placed in second group ( Alkali Earth metals)
Element Y can be placed in 13 group ( Boron Family)
