the gas stove have inlets for air for the complete combustion of saturated compound present in LPG ...saturated compounds do not produce any smoke on heating...but when there is incomplete combustion of them, then they produce black smoke....so if the inlets are closed ,then there will be incomplete combustion and hence the utensils will have black covering at the base..
