The hcf and the lcm of the two numbers are 84 and 21 respectively if the ratio of the numbers is 1:4 find the larger number

Ratio of the numbers are 1:4

Let X be multiply to these numbers. Then the numbers becomes,

1 × X = X and 4 × X = 4X.

HCF of two numbers = 84

And,


LCM of two numbers = 21


We know that,


One Number × Other Number = HCf × LCM

X × 4X = 84 × 21

4X² = 1764

X² = 1764/4 = 441


X = ✓441 = 21


Therefore,

One Number = X = 21

and,

other number = 4X = 4 × 21 = 84


Hence,


The larger Number is 84.
