Wanda Petronski was a descendant of the Polish immigrant that arrived in the United Stated in the early twentieth century. The society which she lived in did not treat her and her family as equals and considered them inferiors.
Even at school, her classmates made fun of her and her name. Because of this she was a quiet girl in her class and could not make any friends. She had to lie that she had a hundred dresses to stop the others from teasing her. But when the others got to know her talent when se won the drawing competition, they respected her.
