given: hypotenuse=5 cm

since isosceles right angle triangle

therefore, let one of the side be X

according to Pythagoras theorem

X²+X²=(perpendicular)²

X²+X²=5²

2.X²=25

X²=12.5

(side)²=12.5

we know that the area of a right angle triangle is base×height.

side the given triangle is isosceles, the area will be (side)²

hence area of triangle is 12.5 cm²
