The input piston of a hydraulic jack has an area of 25 cm^2 and the output piston has an area of 100 cm^2 . How much force would you need to exert to lift a 500 N object (output)?

According to Pascal's law, the pressure applied to a point in a closed system containing a fluid, will be transmitted to all points of the fluid equally.

We know that,

Pressure = \frac{Force}{Area}

So, acc to Pascal's law,

P₁ = P₂

F₁A₂ = F₂ A₁

we need to obtain F₁

F_{1} = \frac{F_{2}A_{1}}{A_{2}} \\\\F_{1} = \frac{500 * 25}{100}

F₁ = 125 N
