the internal resistance of a cell of emf 2V is 0.1 ohm it is connected to a resistance of 0.9 ohm the voltage across the cell will be A.0.5V B. 1.8V C. 1.95V D. 3V ​

Given;

  • V1 = 2V
  • R1 = 0.1Ω
  • R2 = 0.9Ω
  • V2 = ?

Thus by ohm's law ;

  • V1 = IR1
  • 2 = I × 0.1
  • I = 2/0.1
  • I = 20A

Thus by ohm's law in the second case;

  • V2 = IR2
  • V2 = 20 × 0.9
  • V2 = 180/10
  • V2 = 18 V.
