5x - 4y  = -8------(i)
7x + 6y = 9 ------(ii)

(5x - 4y  = -8)3
(7x + 6y = 9)2
then

15x - 12y = -24-----(iii)
14x +12y = 18------(iv)
_____________
29x = -6

x = -(6/29)
by 1st equation
5x - 4y  = -8
5(-6/29) -4y = -8
-30/29 -4y = -8
4y = 8 - 30/29
4y = 202/29
y =  202-116 = 101/58

so x = -(6/29)
     y = 101/58

i hope it will help you
