let one number be X and the other number be (14 - x)

then, LCM = X × (14 - x)
=>
24 = 14x - x { }^{2}
=>
x {}^{2}  - 14x + 24 = 0
=>
x {}^{2}  - 12x - 2x + 24 = 0
=>
x(x - 12) - 2(x - 12) = 0
=>
(x - 12)(x - 2) = 0

thus, x can either be 2 or 12.

hence, in this case there's is a variable answer.
the required number might be either 2 or 12 .
