Given,

HCF = 5040

LCM= 12

Amar`s score = 144

To Find,

Ajit`s score = ?

Let Ajit`s score be x

A/q,

HCF × LCM = PRODUCTS OF TWO NUMBER

=> 5040 × 12 = 144 × x

=> 5040× 12/144= x

=> 420 = x

or,

x = 420

Ajit`s score = 420

Ajit got 420 marks on the math test.

Given:

the LCM of Ajit's and Amar's scores = 5040

the HCF of Ajit's and Amar's scores = 12

Amar's score = 144

To Find:

the value of Ajit's score on the math test

Solution:

we know that the product of the HCF and LCM of two numbers is equal to the product of the two numbers

⇒ HCF × LCM = Ajit's score × Amar's score

substituting the given values into the formula we get-

5040 × 12 = Ajit's score × 144

Ajit's score = 5040 × 12/144

= 5040/12

= 420

Thus, Ajit got 420 marks on the math test.
