length = 8

perimetre = 56

other side =

(l +b)2  = 56

16 + 2b = 56

2b = 40

b = 20 cm

Area = 8 x 20 = 160 cm²

ATQ, the length of the rectangle is 8cm more than it's breadth (width).

let the breadth of the rectangle be x.

therefore the length of the rectangle is x + 8

perimeter of the rectangle is given = 56cm

==> 2 ( l + b ) = 56cm

==> 2 ( x + 8 + x ) = 56cm

==> 2x + 8 = 56/2

==> 2x + 8 = 28

==> 2x = 28 - 8

==> 2x = 20

==> x = 20/2

==> x = 10

hence, breadth of the rectangle = x = 10cm

and length of the rectangle = x + 8 = 18cm

therefore it's area = l × b

= 18 × 10

= 180cm²
