The length of a rectangle is 8cm more than its width. If the perimeter of the rectangle is 64cm . Find its length and width.​

Then, the length will be x + 8

Perimeter of rectangle = 2(length + width)

64 = 2((x + 8) + x)

64 = 2(x + 8 + x)

64 = 2(2x + 8)

64 = 4x + 16

Transposing 16 to the other side:

64 - 16 = 4x

48 = 4x

Transposing 4 to the other side:

x = 48/4

x = 12

Widht (x) = 12

Length (x + 8) = 12 + 8 = 20
