The length of potentiometer wire is increased to double. What happen to
the potential gradient ?

As you know, the potential gradient is equal to V/L ie Potential difference divided by length of the wire. So, the potential gradient decreases with increase of length of potentiometer wire, therefore, null point is obtained at longer distance.
