Given ,

  • The length of the rectangle is three times its width

  • The perimeter of rectangle is 24 cm

Let , breadth of rectangle be " x "

We know that , the perimeter of rectangle is given by

  \mathtt{ \large \fbox{Perimeter \:   of \:  rectangle = 2(L + B) }}

Thus ,

24 = 2(3x + x)

12 = 4x

x = 3 cm

Hence , the length and breadth of rectangle are 9 cm and 3 cm

Now ,

 \mathtt{ \huge{ \fbox{Area \:  of \: rectangle = L × B}}}

Thus ,

Area = 9 × 3

Area = 27 cm²

Hence , the area of rectangle is 27 cm²

Answer:

27 cm^{2}

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the length be 3x and the width be x .

Perimeter of rectangle  =  2 ( length + breadth )

                             24     =  2 ( 3x + x )

                             12      =    3x + x

                             12      =     4x

                              x       =     12 / 4

                              x       =    3 cm

Hence,

             the length be 9 cm and breadth be 3 cm

NOW,

Area of rectangle  =  length * breadth

                              =  9 * 3

                              =  27 cm^{2}
