✔The letter by prolific writer Dhumketu is a heart touching account of an old man ( Ali ) suffering from the pain of separation from his only daughter ( Miriam) .

✨The clerk Lakshmi Das and the postmaster give him tribute after his death , by delivering his daughter Miriam's letter to his Graveyard . They could finally understand the old man's pain when the postmaster under went a similar situation.

Explanation:

The coachman Ali was very old and sick who regularly visited the post office to receive a letter from his daughter Mariam. His daughter married a soldier and left him. Ali visited the post office daily in spite of his sickness.

The postman used to get irritated with Ali and often called him a 'pest'. Ali used to give five guineas to the clerk Laxmi Das in return of the promise that she will reach the letter from Mariam to his grave.

The postmaster also had a daughter who was ill and lives in the next town. He now understood Ali’s trauma. The postmaster and his clerk took the letter to give it to Ali.

They found that he died 3 months ago. They felt bad for their misbehavior towards Ali. They both understood that letters are not just papers but human emotions. They then put the letter from his daughter in front of Ali’s grave.
