the equations of the line passing through (-2,5) and perpendicular to the line 20x+5y=3 is ,
5x -20y+C=0
put (-2,5)
5(-2) -20(5) +C =0
-10-100+C=0
C=110.
the equation is 5x-20y +110=0.
it also passes through the point (6,b)
so, put in equation
we get ,
5(6) -20(b) +110=0
30 -20b +110=0
-20b +140=0
-20b = -140
so, b is 7
5x -20y+C=0
put (-2,5)
5(-2) -20(5) +C =0
-10-100+C=0
C=110.
the equation is 5x-20y +110=0.
it also passes through the point (6,b)
so, put in equation
we get ,
5(6) -20(b) +110=0
30 -20b +110=0
-20b +140=0
-20b = -140
so, b is 7
