The main scale of the vernier callipers has least count of 0.5 mm divisions. If 20 divisions of this scale are divided into 25 equal parts of a vernier, what is the least count ?

Answer: 0.01 cm

The Vernier caliper is an instrument that allows you measure lengths much more accurate than the metric ruler. The smallest increment in the vernier caliper you will be using is (1/50)mm = 0.02mm = 0.002cm.
