given mean =12.4

number of observations=10

mean = sum of observations / number of the observations

12.4=sum of observations/10

sum of observations=12.4*10=124

if each of the half of the observations 1 is substracted

and to each of the remaining half of the observations 2 is added

new sum 124+5*(-1)+5*2=124-5+10 = 129

new mean = new sum /10

= 129/10

=12,9

mean of new observations = 12.9

Answer:

given mean =12.4

number of observations=10

mean = sum of observations / number of the observations

12.4=sum of observations/10

sum of observations=12.4*10=124

if each of the half of the observations 1 is substracted

and to each of the remaining half of the observations 2 is added

new sum 124+5*(-1)+5*2=124-5+10 = 129

new mean = new sum /10

= 129/10

=12,9

mean of new observations = 12.9
