The mean of 40 numbers was found to be 35. Later on it was detected that a number 56 was misread as 16. Find the correct mean of the given numbers.

the mean of 14 number was is equal to 35 .therefore the total rank equal to 35 x 14 equal to 490 .by excluding the wrong number which is 16 we get the total number equal to 490 - 16 equal to 474 .now add 56 with thewith the other total number which is 474 .we get by adding for 474 and 56 equal to 540.now the mean of 14 numbers will be equal to 560 by 14 equal to 40
