(a+b+c+d+e)/5=30----------(1)
GIVEN ,
(a+b+c+d)/4=28
a+b+c+d=112
SUBSTITUTING IT IN EQUATION (1)
(112+e)=150
e=38

Given that mean of 5 number is 30.
Let the sum of 5 numbers be x. Then we can represent the above statement as
⇒ x/5 = 30
⇒ x = 150
IF one number is excluded then the mean becomes 28.
Let the sum of the 4 numbers be y, Then we can represent the above statement as
⇒ y/4 = 28
⇒ y = 112
Let the excluded number be z.
Now the excluded number can be obtained by subtracting 'sum of 4 numbers (y)' from 'sum of 5 numbers (x)'
⇒ z = x - y
⇒ z = 150 -112
⇒ z = 38
∴ The excluded number is 38.
