the odometer of a car is faulty and does not display the digits 2 and 4. if the odometer shows that the car has run for 15000 km, what is the actual number of km that the car has run?

if the odometer does not show not show two digits that is 2 and 4 effectively it uses a system with base 8 the usual base 8 system uses the digits 0 to 7

The mapping of the corresponding digits are as follows:

0 1 3 5 6 7 8 9

0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7

does the odometer reading in the actual base 8 system is 13000 because 5 corresponds to 3

converting 13000 to base 10

1*8^4 + 3*8^3 + 0*8^2 + 0*8^1 + 0*8^0 = 5632 is the answer
