Totalitarian is a form of government which excercises full authority over the country. This type of government opposes and suppresses opposition parties or any other person who tries to go against the will of the government. It controls both public as well as private lives.

Totalitarian is much strict as compared to an Authoritarian state as Totalitarian state unlike Authoritarian doesn't have any boundaries of control. In Totalitarian state the ruler tends to control all aspects of social life, including economy, education, art, science, private life and morals of citizens.

This concept of Totalitarian state was developed in the 1920's by Weimar jurist, Carl schmitt and also by Italian Fascists.
