Transpiration is the evaporation of water from plants. It occurs mostly at the leaves while their stomata (small pores on the underside of leaves) are open for the movement of CO2 and O2 during photosynthesis. It can also occur in flowers and stems. Transpiration also cools plants and enables the mass flow of nutrients and water from the roots to the shoots.
